Our VDA 5050 Onboarding Program for Mobile Robot Partners

We know what we are talking about: From day one, SYNAOS has been active in the working group for the development of the VDA 5050. And now we support others. With our onboarding program, we connect new Mobile Robot partners to our platform by applying the VDA 5050 communication standard. And it only takes a few weeks!
Our onboarding is structured and simple. During the process, we provide our partners with valuable documents and tools. Since we are a SaaS company, we let our partners use a test instance of our platform via cloud to try out the VDA 5050 implementation with simulators and real vehicles. After successful completion, the vehicles can be effortlessly integrated into customer projects. In addition, we are always looking for joint projects and evaluate joint sales activities with our partners.

The 9 onboarding steps
in the tech stream

To make your partner onboarding to our platform based on VDA 5050 smooth and flawless, we have developed a structured process. These 9 steps are performed and tested together.
01. Establishing basic communication
The basis of the integration is the synchronization of the map model. Furthermore, we look at the state topic and the visualization topic in the first phase.
02. Simple Driving Orders
The mobile robot accepts and acknowledges orders. The mobile robot follows the described path of nodes and edges.
03. Order Updates
The third phase is about the horizon of the orders. In addition, order updates are subject of the phase.
04. Action Handling
Here, the execution of actions is dealt with. We start with handling actions on nodes.
05. Node and Edge Attributes
The orders now include parameters of node and edges such as Orientation or maxSpeed. The mobile robot takes these parameters into account while driving.
06. Cancellation of Orders
Orders can now be cancelled. In addition, the behavior of the mobile robot in case of cancellation of orders is addressed in this phase.
07. Error Handling
The mobile robot rejects invalid orders. For errors, a distinction is made between warnings and fatals. A catalog of errors is established.
08. Energy Management
The mobile robot reports the current battery state. In addition, it accepts the order to charge the battery and executes the action.
09. Advanced Action Handling
The last phase is about actions on edges. After acceptance and acknowledgement, the mobile robot executes actions while traversing the corresponding edge.
