In the vast plant of a German OEM, they hum along the driving paths almost silently. Their LED lights reflect on the smooth hall floor: 205 mobile robots from manufacturer MLR transport components within the extensive halls as part of the production-critical material supply to the workstations on the production line – Just-In-Sequence and around the clock.
Complex operating processes, production-critical driving orders, and an extremely demanding traffic management – these are the challenges that MLR and SYNAOS must face together in the OEM's production environment. The goal is to control a heterogeneous fleet, including 205 MLR robots, through a complex intralogistics environment.

With the SYNAOS Intralogistics Management Platform (IMP) and the VDA 5050 communication standard, it has been possible to efficiently implement highly complex intralogistics processes such as JIT and JIS deliveries. The MLR robots of the "Caesar" model series transport production-critical material to demand locations on the production line. The holistic and AI-optimized traffic management of the SYNAOS IMP effortlessly controls the heterogeneous fleet of MLR robots and FTFs from other manufacturers on the shared driving paths.
Without a shared and proven standard like the VDA 5050, the project would have been difficult to implement. As part of our proven onboarding process for mobile robot manufacturers, communication between the MLR onboard software and the SYNAOS IMP was established and tested, laying the foundation for good cooperation in the project.
