Hanover, November 15, 2023.

The biggest construction site in the German intralogistics industry is called software. This is one of the key findings of the “50 Insiders of Intralogistics” report published for the first time by software platform provider SYNAOS.

When it comes to setting up sustainable (intra) logistics processes — the experts agree on this, with a few exceptions — German companies must catch up, particularly when it comes to digital infrastructure and software expertise. This is the only way to implement transformative applications such as artificial intelligence, automated production chains and completely networked flows of goods.

According to the experts from business, science and society, an automated and adaptable “future of intralogistics” has so far been opposed primarily by isolated IT solutions, innovation backlogs in digital transformation and poor data quality.

Isolated IT solutions in particular impede future viability

According to a large number of the experts surveyed, effective production ecosystems in the future require intelligent software platforms and interfaces that harmonize and standardize a wide variety of applications in a value chain — transport vehicles with production lines, for example, or people with robots.

SYNAOS CEO Hackenberg: Increases in efficiency as good as only through software

“For many years, intralogistics was about hardware. About sheet metal, about iron, for something tangible. In future, the major efficiency leaps will come exclusively from software. Our very extensively compiled insider report clearly shows this,” says Dr. Wolfgang Hackenberg, CEO and co-founder of intralogistics platform provider SYNAOS from Hanover.

For the expert report published for the first time in November 2023, SYNAOS accompanied and interviewed a total of 50 leading figures from the European intralogistics scene and compiled their future forecasts.
